Name: Iriana Emp
Synopsis: Compulsive tea-drinking princess with low grasp on reality.
Physical Description: Young woman in her late teens. White-skinned, jet-black hair that is very curly and reaches down past her shoulders. She has a straight nose, brown eyes and a regal aesthetic. She is quite short and slim. She often wears impractical dresses of archaic high fashion as well as matching high heeled shoes. She always wears a small crown on her head.

Personality: She rarely seems to be fully aware of the severity of a situation and has a constant air of mild optimism, believing everything 'will be alright in the end'. She believes every situation can be solved by talking over tea and biscuits. She is a follower and not a leader, despite her role as princess, often doing what someone tells her to do rather than thinking on her own feet. She is easily distracted by things going on apart from the group's dedicated tasks. She is normally useless in a fight and will usually stand and watch and wait for any violence to be over. Even when someone tries to teach her something violent she proves to be completely inept and incapable, the only violence she is capable of would be when pushed to the extreme or completely by accident.

Strengths and Weaknesses: She has learnt the art of tea-drinking from the Jade Emperor of China. This allows her to use a variety of tea-types for a wide array of effects that can be used either upon herself or on others. Some of these effects are mild, such as sedatives, to extreme, such as 'hulking out tea'. The tea must be consumed to be effective.
Props: She always has a great variety of tea-types on her at any given moment. She seems to store all these teas, and tea-sets, in hammer space.

History: Iriana Emp is daughter to Al Ciao, a retired NeS Hero, and Alole. Alole was queen of Snowblossom Isle and had married Al Ciao, then known as Highemperor, and together they had their daughter Iriana Emp. Alole, however, died during childbirth, which left Highemperor as king of the land. He left her there with caregivers. When she reached sixteen years old she sought emancipation from her absent father and when it was given she joined the NeS Heroes where she struck up a tenuous relationship with Al Ciao and his new wife Lady LightSide. After her father retired from NeS Heroes to be a father (which Iriana approved of, knowing she was an abandoned child by the same man) she is was one of the only two remaining heroes until the new group was formed in NeS3. Despite being the only claimant to the throne of Snowblossom Isle, she is still a princess due to the technicality of her emancipation.

Relations: Iriana has quite a family.
  • Al Ciao
  • Al Ciao is Iriana Emp's father who is a retired NeS Hero to be a full-time father to Lior.
  • Lady LightSide
  • Lady LightSide is Iriana Emp's step-mother after she married Al Ciao, Iriana's father. She is a retired NeS Hero.
  • Lior
  • Lior is Iriana Emp's half-sister, daughter to Al Ciao and Lady LightSide.
  • Alole
  • Alole was Iriana Emp's mother who died.
  • Extended Family
  • Alole was Iriana Emp's mother who died.

Name: Aladdyn L. Quirk

Synopsis: Peppy half-genie goofball.

Physical Description: Appears in his late 20s or early 30s. Blue skin. Long black hair in a topknot. Physically fit and muscular. Wears an Arabian-style open vest and pantaloons.

Personality: Aladdyn is peppy and optimistic, as well as often melodramatic. He's usually the goofball, and frequently a bit clueless about the situation, or at least not fully aware of all the particulars.

Strengths and Weaknesses: As a half-genie, Aladdyn can be forced to grant a wish to anyone who captures him, one wish per capture. However, the wishes always depend on the power of the wisher; a normal human wishing for a million dollars is more likely to get it in Monopoly money. Also, the wishes often go awry, such as the money falling from the sky on top of the wisher in a heap. He has basic proficiency in fisticuffs, but is mediocre at best in a fight.

Powers and Abilities: Other than granting limited wishes (as described above), Aladdyn is basically powerless. There are only two other special abilities he has. First, he can change his skin coloration at will. Secondly, his half-genie constitution enables him to remain fit no matter how unhealthy his diet is. He is also halfway-decent at fisticuffs, but no expert.

Profile: Char

PostApr 12, 2019#5

Name: Char (pronounced 'Care'). Their damaged dog tag reads "[H.A.R.---"

Synopsis: A very forgetful medical doctor known for their mettle, code, and tolerance, both literally and figuratively.

Physical Description: Robotic, no obvious gender qualities, and can transform in a sliding scale of size between child-size and giant-size (over 7 feet). Their head and body has few smooth parts, appearing more like an early 3D video game polygon model. The top of their head appears larger, as if something like a green military helmet has been grafted onto their head, with round-ish sound receivers akin to headphones found where ears would be. Sweeping over where the eyes and temples would be is instead a black translucent visor, where large, simple depictions of eyes are projected onto from behind the visor. A green plastic surgical mask covers the rest of the lower face, though one could barely make out a speaker where the mouth would be. They wear green scrubs, surgical gloves, and combat boots, though their forearms are exposed to show them with rolls of bandages and duct-tape.

Personality: Seeks to heal others and help people heal themselves both physically and emotionally. Highly forgetful, though not an amnesiac. Law-abiding but not blindly or stupidly so (both with external laws and their personal code), pacifist, highly tolerant of others (even those clearly bad), courageous and diligent, not above being salty at times when their friends are demanding for healing help or other situations. When speaking, prone to occasional pauses, stutters, and other breaks (once a post on average), prone to a higher vocabulary without necessarily being well-spoken (once a post on average).

Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • Legacy Code: Char is the latest of a line of robots, with each of their 'code' being passed to the next. The 'code' itself is a very messy affair and defies logic, though it also seems to imbue Char with a supernatural level of constitution (their "code", their mettle, their tolerance). It may also be the source of other strengths and weaknesses as well as their personality in general.
  • Doctor: Char is a highly skilled physician, able to heal many injuries, though that usually takes the form of wrapping the injured in bandages and/or duct tape.
  • Goldfish memory: Char has a hard time recalling memories. The longer ago it was, the more likely they won't remember it. No magic or mechanical repairs have been able to fix this without endangering who they are as a person.
Props: Rolls of bandages and duct-tape spooled around their forearms, damaged dog tag

History: Not much is known about Char before NeS3D except that they come from a line of robots who have passed their Legacy Code from one to the next for at least a half a century, and that Char was first made at least a decade ago. They call the robot sanctuary city in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica their home, though seem to travel around as a supporting hero of sorts. At some point before the events of NeS3D, Char met and befriended Losien, and shortly before the events of NeS3D, was caught up with a group of Australian robot clowns for unknown reasons.

Notable Relations:
  1. Losien (established friend prior to NeS3)

Profile: Chris the Bad Guy

PostApr 14, 2019#6

Name: Chris the Bad Guy
Synopsis: Annoying antagonist to Losien and the NeS heroes, unwaveringly convinced he’s the biggest bad to ever walk the earth but actually about as noteworthy as used cardboard
Physical Description: Man appearing in his late 20s to early 30s, ambiguous ethnicity or white, average build, wears a 'cool leather jacket' and a phone-watch, might have short, dark dreadlocks, generally looks like someone trying to be American 1990s 'cool' and failing
Personality: Utterly convinced they're the biggest bad guy ever, and despite actually failing to be anything remotely intimidating or impressive, manages to somehow sway other more competent and threatening bad guys under his influence.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • Able to influence all sorts of skilled and threatening bad guys to follow him
  • Able to call said bad guys to his aid with his phone-watch
  • Unquestionably incompetent and not-threatening on his own
Props: Phone watch.
History: Where Chris the Bad Guy came from or how he went down the path of villainy is anyone's guess. Prior to NeS3D, however, he managed to inadvertently lead the world's villains together to nearly end the world as we know it. Since then, however, he's made Losien his arch-enemy for reasons only known to him for years now.
Relations:
  • Losien (arch-enemy he made for himself)
  • Edgelord and his otaku mall ninjas (villain under his influence)
  • Captain Pleiades and her alien pirate crew (villain under his influence)
  • Robo-Ringmaster and their band of Australian clown robots (villain under his control)

Pirate notes

PostJun 16, 2019#7

Some thoughts from this post I just made:

As with the robots, I wanted to give some small variety as to the types of minor characters that could flesh out the story's world for NeS. I took inspiration from a mix of real and fictional pirates, and somewhat famous alien types as well. As a reminder, 10 (including Captain Pleiades) were numbered in the first post, though there's no reason there may not be more in whatever alien spacecraft they have likely hover-parked above the base, so feel free to add more!

Aniv
She is mostly inspired by the Aenar of Star Trek. I went with them in part because they got antennae and larger heads (fairly standard "alien" thing), though it could be said I'm taking some inspiration from a mix of Andorians and Coneheads as well. The idea of a blind navigator I stole pretty blatantly from The Red Dragon Inn 4's Tara. Incidentally, I vaguely see Pleiades similar to Whitehawk, at least in the attire.

Mr. Blobson
The blob-creature I decided should be a bo'sun, mostly because I wanted to flesh out the crew's major roles, and the blob was identified in the first post and wanted to call back to it. On a personal note, I envision the blob to come from the same world as an obscure reference I made to "high-muckity mucks", but that's only a personal head-canon at this point and doesn't matter either way.

Vain
He is based in part by the Star Trek Orion race but also a real world pirate named Vane who was apparently known for his cruelty, which I imagine this Vain is like too. I enjoyed the idea that he's currently the quartermaster but that he used to be the captain, and that Peilades was probably the former quartermaster.

Okada
Basically a knock-off of Ridley/Meta-Ridley from the Metroid games. I named him Okada because one of the main Metroid 'directors' was named that, as Ridley was named off of Ridley Scott, the director of the inspiration for Metroid, Alien. I figure such a character would be in charge of weapons.

Malrock
In my head, he is a mix of Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly and Captain Harlock from the anime of a similar name -- both generally known for their charisma but also have an 'edgier' side to them. The latter is my attempt to mix some of the villain groups together: just as I had an "alien" among the robots, I figured the pirates could have an "edgelord" among them, if only in a small, trivial way.

I was considering other roles, such as "cabin boy", cook, and doctor, but the post was already getting to a place I felt was a good conclusion, and I had less concrete ideas for those, only tossing around ideas such as an E.T./A.L.F. type alien as well as another one something akin to Klaatu and/or the robot from The Day the Earth Stood Still. Basically, I was looking to check off the widest variety of popular alien and/or pirate types I could, like I aimed to do with the robots.

Regardless, I hope these characters help inspire other writers with their posts.

Other pirates!

Stinky Dave (click on name to introductory post)
Known apparently for his terrible smell, Stinky Dave is also a fervent believer in "Daveja Vu" -- the phenomenon that one of the few constants of the Multiverse is the prevalence of Daves in existence, which presumably bears significance and demands respect.

Zoroaster's Wands

PostJul 18, 2019#8

I just wanted to make a kind of 'notes post' for Zoroaster's Wands, what they are, what they do, what they could do and what other wands might be.

Plasma Wand
The Plasma Wand is made from the wood of Yggdrasil and for its core it has a single strand of Thor's hair. The wand can manipulate intense plasma, which is essentially tremendous lightning blasts. The power of this would be excessive, beyond the most commonly seen lightning bolts in most media, à la Palpatine in Star Wars. One of the most dangerous and unwieldly of the wands.

Bone Wand
Possibly call it the Blood Wand instead, or the Bone Wand of Belshaggath. Not sure yet. It is made from the femur bone of Belshaggath, once NeSorcerer, and at its core is the blood of another NeSorcerer, who is currently unknown. The bone wand manipulates blood, such as bursting blood vessels.

Aero Wand
Sometimes just called the Wind Wand. I would have called it Wind Waker, but I stole that name for a boat already. Ha. It manipulates wind, as advertised. One of the simpler wands, that is probably a common wand. I haven't said how it was made.

Lunar Wand
Controls the magical energies of the moon. It is made from wenge, which is a normal dark wood from Africa, and carved in Cario and has a sliver of moon rock as its core. This wand was actually crafted by The White Goddess, who is a Gaian-like god. As shown in the post, its moonblast is extremely powerful in space but would be much weakened when blasted down through the atmosphere.

Druidic Wand
No specific details of appearance or substances have been given for this yet. It was made by the druids of Stonehenge to use 'druidic magic', essentially magic of 'nature' (as in plants and animals). It allowed Zoroaster to communicate with and reassure Aes Sidhe beings, though it wasn't specified what species they were. It could actually be a 'stone wand', created from a chunk of Stonehenge itself?

Iron Wand
A simple bar of iron is one of the wands. While it wasn't detailed in post, Al Ciao the Writer suggested it could be used against fairies.

Glass Wand
Not detailed at all, but its core, whatever it is, can be seen through the glass. I'm thinking it could be something wiggly and alive!

Narrative Wand/Story Wand
I'm thinking of a wand that allows him to use narrative as magic, like Thand does. Maybe this is partly where Thand sees narrative as a power, as Aman. I'm thinking the wand is made of paper, with bloodink at its core - probably given by a NeSferatu at some point. It might be linked to Sappho, somehow, since she's a NeSferatu poet.

Zoroaster's Balls!
Zoroaster has a few orbs that are imbued with defensive wards. So far one protects specifically against vril, smaller orb. Another protects from heat, larger orb. They vibrate and glow when in use. No history or further details given yet. I expect he imbued the spells himself, but didn't create the balls. I am thinking there should be five of them.

Zoroaster's Rings
He has a series of rings but I don't know if they should *do* anything. So far they've not done anything and it might be overkill if they did. Maybe he just likes bling!

Possible story ideas

PostSep 04, 2019#9

I'm just wishing to jot down potential story ideas for NeS3D that would either be new or returning to something unresolved. Feel free to jot your own and/or comment on any of the ones here that you'd be particularly interested in seeing. I might update this either when I recall something I meant to add and forgot or just think up later, and strike off ones already done.

NeS3D
  • Exploring Aladdyn's half-genie heritage: genie locations, culture, and conflicts involving them.
  • Exploring the "robot sanctuary" in Antarctica: robot culture and conflicts (internal and external) involving robots. Not personally interested in diving into Char's potential past in the foreseeable future, though certainly open to collaborating with anyone else who would. Might include a "robo-Glitch" antagonist.
  • Perhaps visiting ruins/remains/revival of past civilizations built up so much in Legends of the NeSiverse; maybe tying Iriana?
  • Torn between exploring Newb's past that she cannot recall or leaving it a mystery and having "random relations" of her past complicate matters to just thinking the mystery/plot.
  • The above might have possible hooks via current bad guys (ex. Edgelord might have a past connection with Newb, the Australian clown robots may have connections in the robot sanctuary)
Hero Force Ultimate
  • Introducing a rival hero team to Hero Force (working for the Adventurers & Champions Company)
  • Fleshing out more of P.I. Funguy's past and present relations with Hero Force (and others)
  • Possible "man without qualities" antagonist for HFU (possible for NeS3D instead or as a tie-in)
Legends of the NeSiverse
  • NeS3D "commentary" by the Hands of NeS -- Geb and Evil G (Note: originally thought up by Britt)
  • "Myth of Man" - part 2 of creation story with Adam Terraleph, contradictory origin myth as Ask (Norse influence)
  • History of True Evil lineage with Aman Tabiz
  • Joe-shmoe representatives of the galactic G8 meet up at a no man's land bar ("touchstones", "perspectives" too?)
  • PCC/"Interpol" scene: Imperium figure as new leader (HE former leader?), Coord crimes noted
  • "Shadow cabinet" scene of Globalists made up of Magium/HF (Deep), Conglomocorp, Nyarlathotep, others?
  • History of Coordination and OR multiversal powers

Newb Profile

PostSep 04, 2019#10

Name: Newb

Synopsis: Previously trained as a Ninja Assassin, Newb is unable to remember much of her past.

Physical Description: Newb is on the short side with an athletic build. Soft facial features with hard, piercing eyes in a vibrant green. She has wild, dirty, reddish hair, hitting the middle of her back in length, around 3/4 inches past her shoulders. She usually dresses in black military clothes, simple and efficient, paired with sturdy boots. Newb will often have accessories such as a military utility belt and backpack, this is what allows her to survive in the wilderness, like the military/marines would.

Personality: Newb is sarcastic, distant with people. Has a child like interest in Iriana. Intelligent, paranoid and/or prepared.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Combat and survival skills are her strengths. Social skills is her main weaknesses.

Props: General survival pack, backpack, sunglasses maybe on her head, binoculars around her neck.

History: Little is known about her past, she was trained as a ninja assassin and has mysteriously lost her memory. No known associates, currently.

Relations: Newb is indifferent with most others, other than her interest in Iriana. Often mistaken for romantic feelings, Newb see’s Iriana as the little girl she once was, although she only has one very vague memory of her having a princess tea party as a child.

Minor characters for Australian clown robots

PostSep 11, 2019#11

So I was requested to post more about the minor characters making up the Australian clown robots, who I introduced in this post and so here they are! As a note, it's noted that there were 14 robots (including Robo-Ringmaster but not including Honeybee) so there's plenty of room to think up other minor robot characters!

Elektro The Hobo:
Based on the "real" Ekeltro, I mostly emulated what little I know about the real one: particularly clipped robotic speech, known for smoking, and his general appearance as a towering, bronze bulk. I envisioned he came across hard times after the World Fair, and aiming to give different clown 'types', I went with "hobo" for him. I didn't note anything particularly "Australian" about him. Personality-wise, I figure he's world-weary and just looking to be employed where he can.

E-Dingo:
I based him mostly on a young version of the Australian entertainer Ernie Dingo, playing up more "Australian" whereas "clown" is loosely taken as "comedian/funnyman" and "robot" as more an android wholly human in appearance, like Wai. Personality-wise, I wrote him mostly as looking for the easy thing to do and perhaps have a "twisted" attraction to certain humans (from a robot's POV)

MacDonald:
In an attempt to think of different clown types, I went with "rodeo clown" for this one, and as for "robot" I decided on a play on words with "Mac" (as in Macintosh) and figured he resembled some vague iProduct, while I didn't particularly play up any "Australian" part for him like many of the robots. Personality-wise, I made him the doubting voice of reason that gets overlooked.

Grills
She's loosely based on the sort of "clown" that's hired for kids' parties, though likely used as an actual grill over used as a clown. As for "robot" I wanted to show that robots in this story could often be essentially inanimate objects in appearance, hence why she looks like a grill, and I wanted to make grill/girl jokes, which make up her hornball personality. Australian-wise, I actually pulled the name from Caroline Grills who was an Australian serial killer, so take that as you will.

Zig and Zag
While technically they are supposed to be robots, I wanted to bleed the 3 villain groups together a bit, so I also made them "secretly" aliens (the other robots apparently haven't figured this out yet). As with the other examples, my aim was to show a variety of robot 'types' and not just all humanoid. They may very well be clowns from wherever they come from, but I based them loosely on this show which I'm not super-sure anymore why. I forget what ties I may or may not have had with "clown" or "Australia" in this case. Personality-wise, they seem to just want the Earth weakened for alien conquest and are only so good at pretending to be from Earth.

Honeybee (revealed in this post)
At least one of the clown cars that the robots entered the story in has been revealed to be a robot itself. Like Grills, Honeybee is based on the same "personality matrix" as her, so their personalities are very similar. With that said, Honeybee seems less invested in antagonizing/harming the heroes than the other robots as she's let them inside, whereas Grills is likely more murderous.

"Sanctuary" ideas

PostOct 30, 2019#12

Just figure I'd throw the rough deas I had so far for the robot "sanctuary" in Antarctica here. Feel free to throw your own ideas to brainstorm over here!

Names: Port of Persistence
Location: McMurdo Dry Valleys
Relative size: Anchorage plopped into the Grand Canyon National Park
Things of note: there’d be robot ‘district’ segregations, particularly for more humanoid/human-looking robots (outcast) vs “true robots”
Solar power (summer), wind power (all year - super windy), natural gas?/fuels?
Population/demographic (source?), political “friends” (Australia/New Zealand?), “government”, economy, culture (arts?, sports?, parks?, ‘food’ - only one human food place), education, health, media, transportation, utilities/waste/industry, residential/commercial
Mt. Erebus as “off-site” defense/power?
History: “explored” by “robots” between 1888 and at the end of WWII, unofficial migration starting in 50s (after antarctic treaty in 59), official city founding in ~1980, continual growth and construction to present day

Personality: Cocky, sarcastic mostly. CopyKAT fails to adapt to each morphs personality. Can only speak his mind so no one knows what on earth he is saying.

Will charm the panties off any woman who desires dogs.
Props: None.

Strengths and Weaknesses: She is able to transform herself into various vehicles, but all vehicles, even vehicles of war, are actually weaponless and non-lethal.
Props: None.
History: Honeybee was a member of the Australian Clown Robots led by Robo-ringmaster.
Relations: Honeybee is especially besotted with the handsome Aladdyn.

Hair: Dark Brown, clean-cut semi-fro Bowl-cut (early days), little longer/triangular-ish & new beard (which on very close inspection is slightly teethy/gillish/pore-ish looking)
Eye color: Brown
Unusual features: vaguely mushroom-like features attributed to his Connu heritage. His cap-like shaped hair on his head is the only characteristic the average person would consider unusual looking - only doctors would on average possibly take notice of his non-human physiology
Outfits: (early days) old fashioned Inverness cape with bright browns/oranges/reds/whites over office attire and tie with Hero Force logo (modern) more “modern” inverness cape, darker with colored trims, no HF logo on tie (would wear old tie again), Zybal Network cufflink
Stance: Head leans (to the side by default, forward when working/walking) - sway and stride like a shroom at times
Diction: Sometimes loud and wordy, bombastic, sometimes reserved in a regal way.

HISTORY
When Hunter’s parents, both immigrants to America, were unable to conceive, fortune from above visited them. Literally. A small fairy-tale humanoid seemed to appear out of nowhere, gravely injured. The two took it in to take care of it, and it in turn examined them with its strange devices. The alien’s time was near, and it, claiming to be the heir to a power beyond their comprehension, pleaded for them to let it pass its “lifeforce” of sorts to them, and in turn, they would bear a child that would carry all their hopes. They agreed, and it left them a message and gifts for the child to come before passing away (on more than one level). They were visited soon after by two ominous agents who, after failing to find what they were looking for, left.

Hunter grew up in Baltimore, MD, initially unaware of his nature, though as the years passed, he noticed he was different than most others in more ways than one. In fact, he was good at noticing in general, and when he noticed that Hero Force was making a difference in the world, he set his mind to join them. Barring the founding members, Hunter was one of the first among to join, quickly making a name for himself.

Unfortunately for him, that name -- P.I. Fun Guy -- made for an embarrassing reputation as often the joke of Hero Force One, taken arguably less seriously than even a Company Kid when he was known for “talking to shrooms” and, as time passed, even viewed with some judging eyes. Sometime prior to the turn of the millenium, Hunter followed an extended personal assignment off-world involving attempting to find his missing sister. Hunter went MIA himself, his only lead prior to his disappearance would be the name of his new, mysterious arch-enemy who went by the moniker Interstellar Master of Sirius, a.k.a. I.M. Sirius.

After years, fate seems to have brought Hunter to Pandemonium, where he runs into Hero Force One in the middle of a fight with Medusa, aiding them in their time of need...

CHARACTER
Personality: Wholesome, largely light-hearted to puke-inducing positive, bombastic even at times, though occasionally (and strangely) reserved in a regal way. A team player who often charges the front even when not leading himself. A strong sense of justice, often seeking to find both evidence and motive for any given situation, becoming even obsessive-compulsive in that pursuit. Insightful, hit-or-miss inspiring and ineffectual, prone to being insufferable.
Perceptions: Some higher power (his heritage as well as his faith) has given him incredible gifts, and it’s his calling to use them to uphold his beliefs in truth, justice, life, and liberty. Heroes have a duty to pursue truth and justice and protect life and liberty. If you get to know the facts and motives of people, most people want the same (not evil), and in the end, knowing the truth will pave the way for good to triumph.
Politics: While serving as part of Hero Force historically discourages political affiliation, Hunter leans liberal/Democratic, particularly in matters regarding freedom of speech and information. As Hunter has spent more time among the stars and been exposed to alien governments and organizations, he’s had to adapt to work within various legal systems, though the Zybal Network often helps alleviate the subtler challenges. His political knowledge tends to be lacking when it doesn’t apply to law and his job, though.
Religion: Brought up Jewish (more from his father’s side). While Hunter is not a firm practitioner or very knowledgeable about even his own religion, he does what he can to observe in his private times. Despite encountering both occasional gods and faith-shuddering horrors in his life, Hunter senses truth in his faith, and so he holds onto it.
Beliefs: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; truth, justice, and liberty for all -- he firmly believes no one of those qualities should suppress another, even if he himself pursues truth and justice over personal life, liberty, and happiness. Information should (generally) be free.
Fears: Feeling useless (but not fearing failure itself), and feeling disconnected (from people, information, etc.).
Drives: To rise as the best hero and detective ever; to seek truth and justice so others can live happy; to cast the mysteries that cause pain aside for transparency.
Social status: Grew up lower-middle class. Initially, his status was high upon joining Hero Force, but quickly became a cultural joke to those that knew him on Earth. Among the stars, he’s grown to be respected by various authorities and within the Zybal Network. Among the Network, he now has a middle-high social class status (at least on a galactic scale), though his personality still will knock him down a peg or two at times.
Occupation: Hero Force One member (while MIA, his status was never revoked), Interstellar Detective. He tends to funnel much of his income back into his part of the Zybal Network as well as through charitable donations. He has a fairly well-to-do apartment of sorts in Zyba, though, which is filled with mementos of his history as a Hero Force member and cases as an interstellar detective.
Family: Sekai (mother - immigrant from Zimbabwe), Alter (father - immigrant from Germany), Scout (adopted sister, brought in when Hunter was 3 and Scout 4)
Relationships: I.M. Sirius has been his interstellar archenemy since Hunter went MIA from Hero Force. There may be Hero Force members past that liked him or not, and like many members of the time, he had a brief protege, Honey Fun, before she went off on her own in the A&CC as Deadwood. Most fungus-based life that have any sort of “mind” of their own are friendly to Hunter by default.
Hobbies: As once a high-profile hero and still an interstellar detective with a growing reputation, Hunter doesn’t have much time for hobbies. The most consistent “hobby” he’s been able to pursue is seeking out keepsakes for a given assignment: letters, souvenirs, confiscated enemy tech, etc.
Likes: Mushrooms, but not to eat. smooth jazz and broadway-style music (ex. “Jump Up, Superstar!” from Mario Odyssey), dogs that can sniff things out well, honest people.
Dislikes: Games (both literal and ‘mind’ games/’drama’), lounge music and musicals (he claims they’re different than the sort of music he likes), cats (such as the sort that get stuck hiding in trees), ’manipulative/deceitful people (it’s not rare for him to dislike how some of his superiors and peers might go about their jobs because of this).

TALENTS
Potential: Despite his early reputation on Hero Force One, Hunter even back then was one of the greatest heros of Earth, often acting then as the team’s eyes and ears in addition to shielding and absorbing attacks the other team members couldn’t and generally filling in when the team needed more of a particular strength. In addition presently, he has amassed a substantial network of contacts (these days largely off-world) and would be an ideal ‘tank’ for a Hero Force that now lacks many of its heyday prime fighters. In short, an old but reliable dog, ready to sniff out and bite down on crime.

Powers:
“Talk to shrooms” - Hunter is able to use any surrounding fungus to significantly augment his other powers. Commonly, he will gather information (such as even from the recently dead) and, without Contenu, can only command “mundane” growths and actions from them. The closer they are to him, the more he can benefit (the “signal” doesn’t degregate); using his power on the other side of the globe would require massive effort and time while using it within reaching distance is effortless and instant.

“Shroom sense” - His senses, particularly with light/sight, gravity, touch, presence, and ‘weakness’ of something, are heightened to superhuman levels.

“Trippin’” - Hunter can have a subject experience confusing hallucinations. As with many of his powers, the effects and effectiveness can vary based on what’s available to him.

“Mushroom Medicine” - While minor compared to the sort of healing Seraphim could do in her prime, Hunter can provide a certain amount of healing, particularly in the form of boosting immune systems and relieving “status effects” (stress, confusion, etc.)

“Symbiotic Spores” - Hunter can “‘borrow” physical traits of nearby things and transfer them to himself or others, akin to ‘buffing” them.

“Decomposer” -- Hunter’s fungal connection allows him to ‘decompose’ certain objects quickly (ex. parts of a wooden door to escape a room), and to weaken living targets (ex. making them feel sick), akin to “debuffing” them.

“Fungal sponge” -- Like other fungi that have been known to absorb high levels of radiation, Hunter has the ability to absorb certain energies (like radiation) that would be lethal to others

“Mighty M’old” -- Just as mold is difficult to kill, Hunter has a similar superhuman level of durability. This has also given Hunter a superhuman lifespan and slowed aging.

“Foxfire” - Hunter can make (parts of) himself or other fungus glow

“Mushroom Men” - Given a little time, Hunter can produce short-lived sterile ‘clones’, more akin to extensions of himself than truly independent beings. Think Naruto.

Abilities
Interstellar Detective - Hunter is recognized as an Interstellar Detective from the Zybal Underspace Network. He therefore shares similar abilities of other interstellar detectives regarding his intellectual skills (such as investigation, culture/law, and the sciences), physical skills (such as stealth, sleight of hand, and blending into a crowd), and social skills (such as networking, means of interrogating, and sensing the motive of others). In short, what you’d expect from all-star detectives. Among his interstellar detective peers, he’d be more socially skilled (thanks partly to his powers) but less intellectually so on average, whereas among his Hero Force peers (at least back in the heyday among the top tier members), it’d have been more so the reverse.

Hero Force One Member - Hunter has been recognized as one of the top-tier Hero Force members back in the day (despite his public reputation as something of a joke). He therefore also shares similar skills as other top-tier Hero Force One members regarding his intellectual skills (such as emergency medical triaging, ethical problem-solving, and resolve), physical skills (such as acrobatics, athletics, and martial arts), and social (such as crowd control, impressing others, and bureaucracy). Among his top-tier Hero Force peers in his heyday, he’d have been less socially skilled and more intellectually skilled, while among his interstellar detective peers, it’d have been more so the reverse.

Equipment:
Zybal Underspace Network Badge - usually hidden behind the coat he wears, he can easily show it to others to identify himself as an Interstellar Detective. It is also allows him easy access to Zyba and its network. His status as an Interstellar Detective would be revoked if this badge were lost or stolen, though fortunately, the badge itself is “bound” to Hunter, making its loss fairly difficult.

Stellar Scoop - Half-Lens of Truth and physical optical scope, half-multi-use spade. Used often to get stats on people and surroundings, to dig figuratively and literally for what he needs. He tends to keep this in his inside coat pocket.

Contenu - a.k.a. the Word Wand, the Blessed Brand, the Signal Septre, Contenu appears as an oversized mushroom knife of sorts (6” when its blade is not extended and 12” when it is) with a blunt tip. It carries an innate reputation allowing Hunter to command fungus instead of only communicating to them. It also acts as a stylus for writing as well as a “key” to unlock briefcases, safes, databases, and whatever else can be said to contain ‘contents’ in them. If he uses it to lock something, only Contenu can unlock it again. He tends to keep it in his shirt pocket.

Wardenwatch - Appears like a wristwatch. It has the ability to innately translate any language for Hunter as well as project a hard-light concave shield about 3 feet in diameter. He wears this on his left wrist.

Hero Force One Handgun - Issued to him when he joined Hero Force One. Holstered on his hip. Hunter has refrained from using it outside of non-lethal situations such as training and intimidation.

Interstellar Detective Railaser Pistol - Issued to him when he joined as an Interstellar Detective. Holstered by his chest under his coat. Hunter has refrained from using it outside of non-lethal situations such as training and intimidation.

META-STORY
Concepts: I wanted to introduce someone in the Hero Force cast that generally filled a role not already there as well as further build on the Hero Force history. I liked the idea of someone who used to be considered a joke, like Aquaman, and now having “grown the beard” to be a more effective and enjoyable hero. While Hunter will have grown up where I live, I’m also challenging myself to write some qualities (at least minor ones) that are the opposite of my own.

Choice: Who is your character? What choices (or lack thereof) define them, or could define them?
Hunter pursues truth and justice, and makes his choices based on that, commonly at the cost of self-reputation and how others perceive his actions.

Chance: What events revolve around them, plot or otherwise? What elements outside of their (and your) control have particular significance to them? What chances are you willing and hoping to take with them?
The usual Hero Force events that involve its members would also involve him, particularly for him when it comes to handling reputation and perception.

Conflict: How does their point-of-view(s) challenge and co-exist with everyone and everything else? What conflicts do you see arising in and out of the story with them?
His pursuit for the truth often rattles cages even among “the good guys” he works with, and his generally wholesome and boisterous attitude tire the more cynical and private sorts.

Context: Where and when do they interact, and how are those settings significant to them? What is their context in and out of the story?
Compared to most of the other Hero Force members (at least of the heyday), Hunter works out in the galaxy, so tends to have the “little blue orb” view of Earth as a small, delicate treasure to be protected instead of his whole world. His past likely will color his actions in the present.

Convention: Why do they exist? What themes do they bring forth? What conventions are you following and fighting against with them?
Hunter is a space detective, hunting for the truth and justice like an old dog. Any of the conventions that would apply to the likes of Aquaman and the other superheroes in the “system” section as well as other detectives such as Sherlock Holmes could apply for Hunter. Despite the mushroom theme, I’d want to use the “joke reputation” as a way to challenge the funny and/or gross ideas that come from mushrooms with Hunter.

Character Goals and Obstacles: What is the relationship between the character and their goal, what obstacles and antagonists are in their way, and do they transform to overcome it? See here
He pursues to be the best hero and detective he can, and the usual obstacles and antagonists that would get in his way are lies, misinformation, physical safe vaults, and those that use them. As a heyday Hero Force top tier member, Hunter has largely been successful at not resorting to un-truthful or injust means to his ends, instead putting his own reputation as a serious hero on the line. While I don’t envision Hunter sacrificing his principles, I do see him having to learn new ways to not have to do so, whether by relying on other people, finding information in unexpected ways, and possibly figuring out how to overcome his “weaknesses” in public perception.

Character Function: What role(s) does the character serve? See here
Protagonist, hero, sleuth

Character Traits: What tags, etc. apply to this character? See here under "Chraacters" and here
mushroom/fungi, detective/sleuth/sneak, hero, old dog, etc.

Character Grid: Where do other characters relate to this character on a grid of friendly/hostile and dominant/submissive? See here
In his heyday, he was largely friendly and dominant, and it’ll be seen how he falls in with others

Character Web: How does this character feel about the other characters? See here
I presume characters like Seraphim might butt heads with Hunter while those like Magick might get along well with him. We’ll see how it plays out.

Character Status: What is the character's general status? How is it shown? Is there a conflict of status with other characters? Does the character change in their general status in any circumstances? See here
Despite carrying himself with high status, his heyday reputation as a joke had often put him in lower status, though he largely seemed to play it off. His only known ‘low’ status would probably be with types like Seraphim and with I.M. Sirius.

Character Transformation: What transformation does the character make? How is it shown? Is it enough of a change? Is it surprising and interesting? Is it believable? See here
Hunter has “matured” since his heyday, though his wholesome and loud personality still comes off as child-like at times. It’s hard to say what other transformations he might make at this point.

MISCELLANEOUS/NOTES
Miscellaneous:
I.M. Sirius is likely to have done some sort of genetic modification to herself so that she’s not just an old woman in the present day. As a classic antagonist to Hunter, she’s likely to be all about lies, misdirection, manipulation, and the like. While I haven’t pinned down her motives, I could see something akin to misgivings about her brother’s outlook and approach to life.

Zybal Underspace Network: The idea is that Hunter should be able to use the “Underspace” to travel from place to place quickly without vehicles. I envision the physical location Zyba as sort of cavernous and lit with glowing star-like spots, and while technically massive (Forever-sized), is organized in a cell-like maze with maybe “marketplaces” or “dens” at largest so that any ‘compromise” would make it very difficult to take down the Network. Hunter and his peers, for instance, would be limited largely on a galactic scale at most. In short, a “Thieve’s Den” type of place with secret passwords and murder to outsiders and all that.

Benjamin Mahir (of Hero Force)

PostFeb 01, 2021#17

Copied Profile from Massassi

Story: Never ending Story
Name: Benjamin Mahir
Nicknames: Ben, Street Rat
Titles: Persistent [censored]
Alignment: Good Guy
Home: Shirt on his back
System: Underworld
Synopsis: Street rat, somewhat literal.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Age: presumably in his twenties
Gender: Male
Race: Human Zooanthrope/Wererat
Height: 5’ 2”
Build: Athletic
Hair: Short Brown
Eye color: Brown
Unusual features: Nothing as a human; when transformed he’s common brown rat
Outfits: Worn sneakers, tattered shorts, black shirt

HISTORY
Pre-Story History: Ben used to belong to a well off family. He used to have a future, and like people from well off families, no value of that future. Then he graduated from high school and things went downhill. He was horribly burned, inflicted with zooanthropy, lost his entire family, and suddenly found himself on the run from what felt like the entire world.

The entire world isn’t after him, of course, but a large amount of persistent “people” are. Random wererat warrens who for some reason feel threatened by his particular strain of zooanthropy, dark masterminds who on a whim of seeing him decide to try and recruit a wererat minion, various larger than usual hungry things that aren’t very discriminating on their next meal. The list goes on.

Through all of this, though, he survived. He learned the skills of thief, drastically lowered his standard of living, and somehow managed to keep his sense of morals intact. Those sense of morals were starting to get stretched thin, though, and he was not sure how long he could hold off from giving in to pressure to become part of the darkness trying to swallow him.

Story History: Not yet existent.

Recent History: For a man on the run, the “Without Credit” program seemed to be the perfect hiding grounds for Ben and a chance to maybe do some good. Maybe not the smartest move in retrospect, but such things are always in comparison to your alternatives, and Ben just didn’t have many.

CHARACTER
Personality: Action speaks louder than words; silent action, doubly so. Ben is more likely to act then debate, mostly because he hasn’t socialized with people who didn’t want him dead or “lacking in free will” for awhile. That said he believes he’ll be treated the way he treats others, so he at least tries to be polite. He tries.
Perceptions: Everyone gets what’s coming to them. The dead don’t need worldly processions (and should stay dead). Happiness is a lot more elusive than most people might think.
Politics: Libertarian
Religion: Papal Fallibilism
Beliefs: Karma
Fears: The Public Eye
Drives: Food, Safety
Social status: Homeless; formerly upper class.
Occupation: Survivial
Family: None still living
Relationships: He attended the same private high school as The Otter, though like most high school relationships a few years old they can at best be considered “chumish” acquaintances. If that is true, then he really doesn’t have any true friends. Thankfully his past doesn’t baggage him with a lot of true enemies either... just a lot of unfriendly “people”.
Diction: British
Hobbies: If there was such a thing as free time in his future, he’s always been the one to like logic puzzles. In his most recent past, free time has been a true luxury.
Likes: Country music, logic puzzles, and hearty meal
Dislikes: Sewer Vermin, walking dead, and government agents

TALENTS
Potential: He’s a thief. What kind of thief his ultimate potential ends up being is a two headed beast. Either Ben will stick to his beliefs and turn into a gold hearted thief who does the best for his friends and just happens to be a rogue, or he’ll let his drives rule him and become a black hearted who is only looking out for number one.

Powers:
Zooanthropy - There are many different strains of zooanthropy. Ben can’t infect others through his saliva, doesn’t lose control of himself on a full moon, isn’t vulnerable to silver, can’t assume a hybrid form, and doesn’t have rapid regeneration. He does assume the animal form of a common brown rat, cloths included in the transformation, and is capable of perfect regeneration. In theory, his infection is within the plasma of his blood, though such infection isn’t as simple as becoming a wererat.

Perfect Regeneration - A subpower of his strain of zooanthropy, Ben has perfect regeneration. Basically, given time, he’ll heal from anything without scaring. It’s the reason why he has his skin despite receiving third degree burns over 40% of his body, and why he’s in good health despite not receiving proper medical treatment during all his time on the run.

While not rapid, it does increase the rate of his long term healing. Most flesh wounds only last forty eight hours, mortal wounds two weeks, and nonlethal dismemberment four months. Any effect on his longevity is unknown, though it’s assumed to be positive if anything at all.

Abilities:
Stealth - As a human or a rat, Ben has found over the past few years that being undetectable is a good thing. While it’s far from perfect, it does include more than walking silently and hiding in the shadows. It also includes walking without leaving a trail and hiding in a crowd, and a few other handy tricks.

Thievery - Ben doesn’t consider himself a thief, but he’s had to pick up many of the skills of one: lock picking, sleight of hand, escape artist. Honestly, the skill set could be mistaken for a magician, but most magicians aren’t picking the locks on animal cages, flinching spare change and food without anyone noticing, or squeezing about in spaces that should technically be too small for even a rat.

Equipment: Ben leads a shirt on your back life. With that said, aside from not yet consumed scrapes of food, mostly Ben carries around his thieves’ tools. What are his thieves’ tools? Imagine if someone assembled their tools by disassembling a barb wire fence with wire cutters, but didn’t keep the wire cutters. As expected he doesn’t receive a master work bonus, but he can at least pick locks.

META-STORY
Concepts: Ben contains a little bit of me and my fursona (yes, I’m furry), and a few thoughts on what the story could have added to it without messing up the chemistry of the characters; kind of like not wanting to mess up the chemistry of a fish tank, since doing so would cause everything to go belly up. He’s a thief type character, a role mostly left unfulfilled. He’s not too powerful but is at least not completely unpowered. And he slightly shoe horns his way into the story by developing an under developed character.

Choice: “Values or Necessity?”
Being a good person or staying fed and safe is a fine line for Ben. He believes part of the reason his life is [censored] at the moment was that he was a spoiled child who didn’t practice what he preached enough, and he wants to be better. At the same time his life is so on the rocks at times that just food and safety are luxuries, and he knows they shouldn’t be. He wants to satisfy both, but he knows sometimes he needs to make hard choices.

Chance: “You want me [insert here]?!”
A large array of not nice people want to do stuff to do stuff to Ben. Some want him dead for reasons like “You’re evil just because you’re a wererat” or “Your strain of zooanthropy threatens our plans” or “Me hungry”. Some want to capture or recruit him because “Your blood is the key to my immortality/evil plan.” Others are just mean [censored]s who see someone with no friends and therefore no one to come to their defense. And that is just his back story; Chances are that the future will only get stranger in the Neverending Story.

Conflict: “I belong in the sun.”
Ben believes that if he works hard enough, he’ll earn happiness. This certainly puts him in conflict with the forces that seem to only want him to suffer, but as for the villains or heroes... it mostly depends on the Choices he makes.

Context: “I’m here for you...”
Ben is mostly in this story to develop other character and protect their interest. Yes, he does have his own desires, and his own potential development, but little is gained if one is self serving particularly with a character who believes in karma like Ben. He’s shoehorning his way in by helping The Otter, but he’s likely to help the others along as he can.

Convention: “Diamond in the rough...”
Ben is a fallen star that hasn’t lost the ability to shine. He’s an almost literal street rat, though he’s missing acceptance of his position needed to fully fill that role. And don’t expect him to gain it just to fulfill the trope. He’s going to make a comeback one day.

Name: Arnold/ Arno

Synopsis:
A friendly, humorous semi-furry trying to turn himself back into human.

Physical Description:
An anthropomorphic fox with long dark-red hair barely touching his waist and a short braid by the right side of his face. His eyes are brown red. Skin covered with greyish pink fur, shading to black at the end of the arms and shins. He has paws instead of hands and feet so he can run on all fours, which makes him faster than any human. He has pointed ears with black hair on its tip and fuzzy tail with white fur at its end. He only wears a kaftan scarf and black shorts, and no other clothing.

Personality:
He tends to be kind to everyone and treats people how he wants to be treated. This leads to a problem that he can hardly refuse anyone, thus pushing himself into unnecessary troubles. He always gets out of these troubles by breaking the relationship, which is actually selfish but he's not aware. Most of the time he is humorous, sometimes being sarcastic just for joke.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
He can communicate with most of the animals, except wolves, which he can but doesn't like to talk with. He will just shut up and glaring at them. He seldom get into fights as human so he fights clumsily like a fox.

Props:
A metallic seven-pointed star attached to the braid by the face. It seems to have some magical power but no one knows.
A solar-powered jet pack, supporting for long flight. Lightweight and easy to control.

History:
He is an orphan. He met his best friend (Mackey) when he was at school but lost him in a car accident. Since then he has been decadent and living with remorse. Two years later he was introduced to a scientist(Orë) to bring Mac back to life. But Orë took the wrong hair and turned him into a fox furry. He went to The Antarctic as Orë told to separate his gene from the fox's, hoping to turn him back to normal human.

Relations:
Orë:The scientist who turn Arnold into a furry, with his assistant O.
Mackey:Arnold's best friend who died two years ago in a car crash.
