Artwork created for the Neverending Story - and its expanded universe - is found in this thread. The artwork is often commissioned by admins for a variety of characters and content for the story, and the various spin-off stories. However, you should feel free to post your own artwork of NeS characters here if you are of the artistic persuasion!

If you are a new Writer and make a post that introduces your character to the Neverending Story 3, you will likely be considered in line (probably next in line!) to receive a drawing of your character. For you, it is entirely free! But please do not make demands, as this isn't free for us and depends on availability of the current artist.

You must ensure your character has a profile in the Discussion group, and try to consider the details that you'd want to see in your image (correct hair, clothing, etc). If you have any specifics you'd want in your image, you can discuss those with the admin when they offer you the artwork. Otherwise, there are no requirements or expectations as the admin will communicate with the artist on your behalf. If you have references you want to be considered - such as a photograph of a hairstyle - you can talk to the administrator and share such references with them.

If you have artwork depicting Neverending Story content that you'd like to share, please feel free to post it into this thread! Whether your own character in the story, or anything from the story, we'd love to see it.

Commissioned work in this thread has been from a variety of artists over the years. The displayed images only date from 2019, the start of Neverending Story 3 and the opening of this new forum. For earlier drawings, check out the images on our Wiki. The new images can also be seen there.

In this thread, commissioned works can be found from Omaik and Amade, followed by Qing Yun and then WJH, who is the current artist.

If you have any questions, feel free to message one of the admins!

So I'll be posting an initial batch of requests here as examples for you all to see. You are, of course, free to make your own requests outside the rules -- they'll just be treated as commission requests you yourself will cover and that you'll have to work out the details yourself. With that said, the first request!

Character request: Losien Simon -- profile here
Number of posts: 2. (for example sake, I'll be requesting as if I had at least 10 posts or requesting on my own). My first post, which has Losien in it as well, can be seen here -- she's shown up in most all the posts so far.
Preferred art style: Default/artist's original style. So you can all see what to expect generally when not asking for a style.
Physical description:

Species/ethnicity: human, white, probably some tanned skin from worldly travels
Gender: female
Age: appears to be in her late 20s to early 30s
Build: Fit. She's a freelance hero by profession. She's been known as attractive, but is currently not so hung up on her physical looks these days. She's probably around 5'6"-5'8" in height.
Eyes: brown
Hair: light auburn color, about shoulder length or so, pulled back just to keep it out of the way
Outfit: light brown pair of painter’s overalls that cover a grey-blue colored shirt and the rest of her usual clothes she wears for hero duties underneath the overalls.
Props: She's an improvised fighter, and has currently used a shovel, broomstick, metal chair, and a metal trash can lid. Any object that would be found in a space for renovation would be a good possibility for her to have and use.
Unusual features: She has a noticeable but not deep scar clipping the end of her left eyebrow that runs to her left temple.

Personality: Somewhat serious, often focused on hero business, competent leader, sometimes self-doubting but can put up a good act when needed. Not a stick in the mud, but not as zany as many NeS characters tend to be.

Preferred art style: His character would probably envision himself in the style of a 1990s Marvel comics bad guy or something like this but in actuality something like Poochie would be more fitting. If the latter looks too interesting, though, the default art style is fine too.
Physical description:

Species/ethnicity: human, ambiguous ethnicity or white
Gender: male
Age: appears to be in his late 20s to early 30s
Build: Average. Any physical fitness he has is only from trying to be Losien's arch-enemy. He's probably about the same height as Losien (around 5'6"-5'8")
Eyes: brown, probably
Hair: dark, probably in short dreads in the style of a "cool 90s guy"
Outfit: wears a 'cool leather jacket' and generally attire that someone like Chris would think makes for "cool" or "intimidating"
Props: He thinks his phone watch is pretty cool.
Unusual features: None. He's unusually unnoteworthy; the equivalent of used cardboard

Personality: Utterly convinced they're the biggest bad guy ever, and despite actually failing to be anything remotely intimidating or impressive (or arguably interesting), manages to somehow sway other more competent and threatening bad guys under his influence.

Preferred art style: Anime. Edgelord would imagine himself drawn super-serious, and could be drawn at least somewhat seriously (like something out of Naruto or Bleach) given the contrast with his actual physical appearance.
Physical description:

Species/ethnicity: human, white and/or Asian, probably very pale
Gender: male
Age: probably appears to be in his 30s, but could be in his 20s or his 40s
Build: Considerably overweight.
Eyes: probably brown
Hair: dark, unkempt, possibly long and pulled back. Also has a stubble-like neckbeard.
Outfit: Wears a black trench coat over either stained clothes an otaku might wear or a "ninja" attire, and a trilby hat
Props: He wields the finest katana one can buy at a mall vendor, and also has dollar-store throwing stars as well.
Unusual features: None.

Personality: Attempts to always be "edgy" to the extreme, otherwise a stereotypical otaku

Preferred art style: 1930s sci-fi pulp book cover look and/or a style fitting for stereotypical pirate stories.

Species/ethnicity: alien (humanoid), female, blue skin
Gender: female
Age: looks to be at least in her 40s
Build: Athletic. Given the requested art styles, she might look vixen-like, but she might also look rough and tough
Eyes: probably something exotic looking and/or something cunning and intimidating
Hair: Probably black and flowing, but free to interpretation.
Outfit: Stereotypical sea-faring pirate attire, maybe some "space man" look thrown in.
Props: She uses a a big, red ray gun straight from a 1930s sci-fi pulp
Unusual features: She has an eyepatch over one eye and a peg leg for one leg.

Personality: Stereotypical sea-faring pirate sort, seeking out riches and taking care of anyone in her way.

Gender: no discernible typical physical gender qualities
Age: adult in build and mental capacity, possibly showing signs of aging
Build: Lean and tall probably -- up to artist interpretation
Eyes: up to artist interpretation
Hair: none
Outfit: Stereotypical circus ringmaster attire complete with top hat.
Props: They use a whip made of an Ethernet cord.
Unusual features: None

Personality: Polite, very much a showman, wants to destroy all humans. Wrangles other Australian robot clowns under their control.

Physical description:

Species/ethnicity: robot (humanoid), further description in "unusual feature"
Gender: no discernible typical physical gender qualities
Age: adult in mental capacity, their literal age probably 10-30 years
Build: standard adult size of an average, somewhat thick build by default, can transform anywhere between a child's build and a giant's build over 7 feet tall.
Eyes: simple but expressive cartoon-like eyes projected from within their head onto their visor (see 'unusual feature')
Hair: none
Outfit: Light green surgeon scrubs, surgical gloves, and combat boots.
Props: They have spools of bandages and duct-tape around their forearms respectively. They also wear a very damaged dog tag that reads "[H.A.R.--" (the part after the "r" can't be made out)
Unusual features: I will do my best to describe their appearance.
Overall: they have very few, if any, smooth/curved parts to them, akin to an early 3D video game.

Personality: Seeks to heal others and help people heal themselves both physically and emotionally. Highly forgetful, though not an amnesiac. Law-abiding but not blindly or stupidly so (both with external laws and their personal code), pacifist, highly tolerant of others (even those clearly bad), courageous and diligent, not above being salty at times when their friends are demanding for healing help or other similar situations.

Species/ethnicity: human, white
Gender: female
Age: late teens, around 18
Build: She is quite short and slim. She has a straight nose and a regal aesthetic.
Eyes: dark brown
Hair: jet-black hair that is very curly and reaches down past her shoulders.
Outfit: She often wears impractical dresses of archaic high fashion as well as matching high heeled shoes. Something like Elizabethan dresses or later, pre-modern age, overly elaborate. She always wears a small crown on her head.
Props: A china teacup filled with fresh, steaming tea in one hand and the saucer in the other.
Unusual features: N/A

Personality: Good-natured but often clueless and lives in her own little world. She is weak, unable to fight and is a follower not a leader. She is usually a happy girl, eager to follow her friends. She is quite keen on considering others to be her good friends.

Not having a better answer, the horde of bad guys turn their attention to Losien. She examines her options from behind her trash can lid as she sees the numbers aren’t adding up in her favor, to say the least. While admirably holding a fearless facade, Losien can’t help but doubt herself as she used to so often before, and so falls back on what her own personal hero would do.

Person referred: Al Ciao -- referral here and his 3rd post here
Preferred art style: If possible, a mish-mash of styles as used in the previous character submissions. If not, Default/artist's original style.

Description specifics:

Focus characters: Losien and Chris the Bad Guy
Background characters: Edgelord (and the "mall ninjas" similar to him), Captain Pleiades (and the "alien space pirates"), and Robo-Ringmaster (and the "Australian clown robots"). If possible, Aladdyn might also be visible sneaking a look from behind one of the exit-ways, and Char might be visible disguised as one of the clown robots. See Notes below for more detail.
Setting: A former hero group's training pit at least two decades old under renovation, akin to a Deadly Training Area. The space is described as seeming "...more like a giant hole in the ground fit for maybe three dozen people practicing pilates than an epic arena of decades past." It is also described as having "...parts of the walls and floor exposing once-secret compartments of now dilapidated mechanized obstacles." There are renovation tools lying around, such as a shovel, as well as at least a metal folding chair. The space has open floor hatches (where the ninjas entered from), a skylight above that has just been shattered with ropes dangling (from when the alien space pirates entered earlier), and at least 2 exposed exit-ways on either end large enough for at least a clown car to drive through (and two clown cars are in the space). The training area likely has an observation area above and surrounding it. The training area is part of a larger dilapidated hero base on a small island i.e. an island base -- not seen in this scene but noted for context.

Notes:
While I expect the background characters to be little more than stick figures, I'm providing additional details on some of the goons under Edgelord, Captain Pleiades, and the Robo-Ringmaster should you find it useful. Feel free to deviate from the specifics as it suites you.

"Mall Ninjas" -- There are 6 of these guys, and they are almost certainly all male. They're described as overweight and wearing trenchcoats and trillbys like Edgelord, and likely look very similar to each other. However, they might also look like stereotypical ninja, or college kids cosplaying Naruto characters, or general otaku. Named characters include Raman Man, Dank Ravenknight, Emperorofpantsu, and Sushi Baka.
"Alien Space Pirates" -- There are 10 of these. Some that have been described include Vain (a male, muscle-bound green-skinned [url=https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Orion]Orion[/url]), Aniv (a blind female snow-skinned Aenar - large head and antennae), Mr. Blobson (a literal blob of goo), Okada (a draconic Ridley knock-off), and Malrock (a vaguely alien mix of Malcolm Reynolds and Harlock)
"Australian Clown Robots" -- There are 14 of these. Some that have been described include Elektro the Hobo (a 7 foot tall bronze 1930s robot wearing clown-hobo attire and smoking), E-Dingo (who basically looks like a young Ernie Dingo Wearing a bush hat and a tropics-appropriate attire with a shirt underneath saying "clown" on it), MacDonald (described as "A fairly contemporary-looking robot steps forward, appearing mostly white-plastic with a tablet for a head. Their getup seems more appropriate for a rodeo, or perhaps a fast food joint, than a circus"), Grills (what appears to be a simple charcoal grill with balloons tied to it), and Zig and Zag (described as "each appearing within tiny floating spaceships the size of breadboxes, weave up and down as if they have to pee. Inside the ships, whatever contraptions pilot them are covered like sock puppets wearing absurd imitations of space suits. If not for their clownish party hats strapping over their helmets and the polka-dot paint job on the ships, they could easily be mistaken for aliens.")

Character Request: Newb

Preferred Art Style: artists own

Physical Description:
- species/ethnicity: human, white, tanned from travel, usually dirty.
- Gender: female
- Age: mid twenties
- Build: on the short side, slim but stocky/muscular. Athletic build
- Eyes: vibrant green
- Hair: long, middle of the back, about 3/4 inches past shoulders, wavy, wild, shaggy, dirt reddish/burnt red/brown in colour.
- Outfit: mostly black, military style combat boots, tights black pants, plain black t-shirt tucked into pants with belt.
- Props: maybe sunglasses on her head, binoculars around her neck, back pack, maybe survival/utility belt.

Personality: trained in military/marine style as a ninja assassin, meaning she often appears unemotional. She has soft features at odds with her hard, calculating stare. Tense, keeps her distance, but a subtle hint of a softer side comes out where Iriana is concerned.

I decided to draw another minor character from NeS3D that was relatively easy to draw -- Mr. Blobson! I took some inspiration from what amade drew in the scene work above, and since I envision him as a living pile of muck, I drew him as such: gross, manure-ish, neither wholly gelatinous nor rough. I interpreted the eyeballs as alien rocks that vaguely resemble eyeballs as well, though he may very well have eyeballs just not visible in this photo. Lastly, I made a nod to a famous boatswain character, Mr. Smee, by having a pair of glasses inside it as well as the hat from the DIsney adaptation... and a random hook-hand nowhere near any semblance of a hand just to give it a touch more pirate flair.
